There are many cases where users get infected by clicking on some seemingly legitimate advertisement. Cyber criminals are using this technique to infiltrate users’ devices and lure money out of them. That’s where Disconnect Mobile comes handy. Developed by a company founded of former Google engineers, Disconnect Mobile filters advertisements known to be of malicious intent, i.e. malware downloads, phishing sites, adware or browser hijacker injectors. Also, ads that are aggressively tracking your online behavior are also eliminated, therefore preventing from an identity theft.
The database used by Disconnect Mobile is constantly updated, so you can make sure the likeliness of getting your mobile device infected is reduced to a minimum.
The app has two operating modes that you can selectively enable:
- Basic, which blocks malicious tracking, thus preventing an identity theft
- Malvertising, which blocks malicious ads that disguise as legitimate ones
We highly recommend to have both modes switched on to ensure maximum security.
Disconnect Mobile is available to download for both Apple and Android mobile devices. Android version is pay-what-you-want software, meaning you can download the app free of charge. However, if you like the app and want to keep up the spirit, you can always pay a small (or large) sum to the developers.
Note: since Android version is not available on Google Play Store, the app must be downloaded manually. Before downloading, please ensure that Unknown Sources are enabled in device’s security settings.
