What is FBI MoneyPak Virus?
FBI MoneyPak Virus is a screen locker with an aim to frighten unsuspecting computer users into believing they have been accused of unauthorized cyberactivity. Several extreme measures are taken with this fraudulent malware:
- FBI MoneyPak Virus uses your camera to make you believe your face has been captured for identification;
- Uses Green Dot MoneyPak prepaid cards as a means to pay a $200 fine for the supposed violations;
- Disguises itself under the name of the FBI to scare you and force you to pay the fine;
- To reduce suspicion, it also displays a fraud alert, explaining that you should never give out your MoneyPak number.
Do NOT trust this malicious activity and remove it as soon as possible.
How to remove FBI MoneyPak Virus and "Your computer has been locked!" message?

Restart your computer into Safe Mode:

When your computer is booting up, keep pressing F8 key until you see the screen, pictured below:
- Choose "Safe Mode with Command Prompt"

- When your computer boots up in Safe Mode, a commant prompt will show up. In the command prompt, type "explorer" (without quotes) and hit ENTER key. Explorer window will open up. Do not close it yet.

In the command prompt window type "regedit" (without quotes) and hit ENTER key. Windows Registry Editor will open up. In the left side of Registry Editor window, navigate to the following path:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\ - Right-click on the Shell item and select "Modify…".
- Under the "Value data" you should see "explorer.exe", if it is named otherwise, modify it so that it would read "explorer.exe".

Close all windows and restart your computer. When the computer boots up, download SpyHunter:

- %TEMP%\wpbt0.dll

Remove the following files from your system:
- %TEMP%\[random].exe
- %StartupFolder%\ctfmon.lnk
- %WINDIR%\system32\0_0u_l.exe
- %TEMP%\wpbt0.dll

Wow im so glad i double.checked it i almost fell for it i called the money pak to get a refund before it could be processed and i had a gut feeling it was a scam so when i looked up fine@fbi.gov i seen so many people saying it was a scam

Block the Whole computer
The way that this virus is set up on my computer, nothing has worked and it looks like I’m going to need to pay $150 for a professional to fix it. Bummer. However as a last resort I will restore the computer to its factory default settings and see if that does anything at all. Wish me luck.
